De afgelopen weken hebben we diverse producten van partners van 1001Lichtjes gefotografeerd. Super leuk om te doen. Maar vooral ook een uitdaging om al die bijzondere producten zo goed mogelijk vast te leggen. Bij voorkeur in combinatie met een ander product. Hierboven vast een kleine impressie van het resultaat.

Portret van een Leven - Tijd vliegt

In Portret van een Leven kijken we mee in het huis waar fotografe Marjoleine van Kalken is opgegroeid. 

Alsof de tijd twintig jaar lang heeft stilgestaan. We kennen het huis niet. We weten niet hoe het er ruikt en hoe onze stappen klinken in het trappenhuis. We hebben geen herinneringen aan dit huis.

Marjoleine’s blik zit tjokvol herinneringen, zij ziet wat wij niet zien.
De vertrouwde lichtschakelaars waar je als vanzelf naar reikt. De paarden die overal terug komen in het huis. De kindertekeningen aan de muur. Tafels bedolven onder een dikke laag papieren, boeken, spullen, tijdschriften, foto’s en stof.

Signs of Life | Jeroen Hansen

Het fotoproject Signs of Life, is een fotografische ode aan bermmonumenten dat in 2009 ontstond. De foto’s van deze herdenkingsplekken voor overleden dierbaren zijn gemaakt in Nederland en in andere Europese landen. Vast staat dat nabestaanden de plek waar een dierbare voor het laatst in leven was, willen markeren. Door het monument vestigen ze daar de aandacht op, waardoor ook anderen even stilstaan bij de vergankelijkheid.

Parents Share Devastating, Beautiful Photos To Break Down The Silence Around Stillbirth

This summer, California couple Emily and Richard Staley went through one of the most devastating experiences parents can endure when Emily delivered a stillborn baby girl. But thanks to the help of one photographer, their tragedy might help break down the silence around the little-discussed topic of stillbirth.

After about eight months of pregnancy, Emily Staley had grown accustomed to her unborn daughter's energetic kicking, Fstoppers reports. So she knew something was wrong one morning when she didn't feel the baby moving at all. A hospital visit and ultrasound revealed the painful truth: Her baby had died in utero. Reeling from shock and grief, Staley arranged to deliver her stillborn daughter via C-section early the next morning, when Richard could be by her side. And, through the help of a friend, she arranged to have a photographer at the hospital to capture this important time for her family. This practice is not uncommon, as individual photographers and organizations like Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep have been providing "remembrance photography" to parents for many years.

Grandpa's Photos

This is Grandpa, otherwise known as Stephen Clarke. He was great at so many things. One of those was being a Grandpa. He was a WWII Air Force navigator, a husband, a Dad and we also discovered he was a great photographer. He worked his way up in numerous management roles to be a Buyer at a small jewelry franchise in Australia called ‘Prouds Jewelers’. In this job he was lucky enough to go overseas a few times to visit suppliers. He'd take his trusty Voightlander camera on these trips and take photos along the way. Each time he returned home he'd give the family a slideshow of the photos. Then the slides were put in a box in the back of a cupboard. More pictures

Days With My Father

Days With My Father is a son's photo journal of his aging father's last years. Following the death of his mother, photographer Phillip Toledano was shocked to learn of the extent of his father's severe memory loss. He started a blog on which he posted photographs and accompanying reflections on his father's changing state. Through sometimes sad, often funny, and always loving observations, we follow Toledano as he learns to reconcile the elderly man living in a twilight of half memories with the ambitious and handsome young man he occasionally still glimpses. Days With My Father is an honest and moving reflection about coming to terms with an aging parent.
